We built the firm we
kept hearing people want
Not a bigger firm. Not a cheaper one. Just one that answers the phone, closes the books on time, and explains what the numbers mean without making you feel stupid for asking.
The same complaints,
over and over
Talk to enough business owners about their accountant and you stop hearing variety. You hear the same handful of complaints, phrased slightly differently, from people in completely unrelated industries.
They only hear from them at tax time. The books are months behind. The reports may as well be in another language. The tax bill is a surprise every single year. Nobody has ever suggested a way to save money, only reported what already happened.
What's striking is that almost none of these are complaints about competence. The accountants in question are usually perfectly capable. The returns get filed and the numbers add up. The failure is in everything around the technical work — communication, timing, and the willingness to explain.
That gap is the entire reason this firm exists. The technical accounting is table stakes; any qualified professional can do it. What's rare is a firm that treats the relationship as the product rather than the paperwork.
What we heard most
- "I only hear from them in tax season"
- "My books are always months behind"
- "I don't understand my own reports"
- "The tax bill is always a shock"
- "Nobody tells me how to save money"
- "I have to chase them for everything"
Every one of those is a process problem, not a skill problem
Who actually does the work
Two people run this business, and we do genuinely different things. Nobody here pretends to be a generalist.
Ashia Thomson
Accounting, tax and client delivery. Ashia leads all client accounting work — bookkeeping, tax and financial reporting — and is the person you deal with month to month.
Billi Yadav
Marketing and growth. Thirteen years in search and digital marketing. Billi runs how this firm is found and how it communicates — the website, the content, and the outreach. He does not touch client books or tax work, and we think it's worth saying so plainly.
The delivery team
Day-to-day bookkeeping. A small, dedicated team working directly under Ashia, so your books are always handled by people who know your business.
Four commitments,
and what they cost us
Most firms have values on their website. Ours are deliberately specific, because a promise you can't measure isn't a promise — it's decoration.
We reply within 48 hours. Every email, every question. If we miss it, tell us and that month is on us. This is the one that costs us the most, because it means someone has to actually watch the inbox rather than batching replies when convenient.
Your books close by the 15th. A date, not a vague "early next month." It forces us to staff for our worst month rather than our average one, which is more expensive and the entire point.
Flat monthly pricing. No hourly billing. It means we absorb the cost when something takes longer than expected, and it means you can ask a question without wondering what it'll appear on your invoice as. Hourly billing quietly discourages clients from talking to their accountant, which is a strange thing for a profession to have built into its business model.
Plain English, always. If you don't understand your own numbers after we've explained them, we haven't finished the job. Jargon is usually a way of avoiding the harder work of making something clear.
What we don't do
- Bill by the hour
- Lock you into annual contracts
- Disappear between January and April
- Hand you reports without explaining them
- Charge setup fees on monthly plans
- Hold your files hostage if you leave
Cancel any time · Files handed over cleanly
And who we're
honestly not for
Being clear about this saves everybody time. A bad fit is worse for us than no client at all.
A good fit
Growing US businesses doing somewhere between $250k and $10m, with an owner who wants to understand their numbers rather than just have someone file them. Particularly strong fits in construction, home services, real estate and e-commerce, where the industry-specific work matters most.
Also a good fit
Anyone whose books are badly behind and who's been putting off dealing with it. Cleanup is a large part of what we do and there's no lecture attached. Being nine months behind is a scheduling problem, not a character flaw.
Not a good fit
Businesses looking purely for the cheapest option. We're not the cheapest and we're not trying to be — the commitments above cost money to keep, and a firm competing on price can't afford to make them.
Also not a fit
Anyone who wants their accountant to be creative with the numbers. We'll tell you every legitimate way to reduce what you owe, and we won't go past that line. It's not worth our license or your risk.
The call is genuinely
just a call
Thirty minutes. We look at your current books, tell you honestly what's wrong and what it would take to fix, and quote you a flat monthly price.
There's no pitch and no follow-up sequence designed to wear you down. A reasonable number of people leave that call with useful advice and never become clients, and that's a perfectly good outcome — some of them come back a year later, and some of them send us someone else.
If we're not the right firm for you, we'll say so on the call rather than after you've signed. If your business has compliance requirements we don't know well, we'll tell you that too. Learning your industry at your expense isn't a service.
And if we are a fit, you'll know what it costs before you leave the call. No proposal three days later with a number you weren't expecting.

About the firm
Small and deliberately so. You get the same small team every month rather than being routed through a large firm's account manager rotation.
The same people every month. You'll know who handles your books and who signs your return, and you won't be routed through a general support queue. That consistency is the point — a bookkeeper who knows your business notices when something looks wrong, and one who's seeing it for the first time doesn't.
Your accounting, tax and bookkeeping work is led by Ashia in the US. Ask us anything about how the team is structured on the call — we'll answer directly.
Happy to walk through our background on the call — get in touch and ask.
Ask on the call. We won't hand out client contact details without asking them first, but where a client has agreed to it, a conversation with someone in a similar business is usually more useful than anything we could tell you ourselves.
Tell us and we'll try to fix it. If it still isn't right, cancel — no penalty and no argument. We'll hand over your books and files properly organised. A firm that keeps clients by making it painful to leave isn't a firm worth being.
