What this site is,
and what it isn't
We publish a lot of specific information about accounting, tax and industry practice. It is written to be genuinely useful, and it is not a substitute for advice about your own situation.

General information only
Everything published on this website — service pages, industry pages, blog posts, pricing guidance and FAQs — is general information. It is not accounting advice, tax advice, legal advice or financial advice directed at you or your business.
We write it because we think most accounting content is uselessly vague, and because business owners deserve to understand what they are buying. That is a different thing from advising you.
No professional relationship
Reading this site, downloading a resource, or sending us a message does not create a professional relationship between us.
A professional relationship begins only when we have both signed an engagement letter setting out what we will do and on what terms. Until then, nothing here should be treated as advice you can rely on.
Your situation is specific
Tax and accounting outcomes depend heavily on facts. Entity structure, state, industry, revenue, ownership, prior filings and dozens of other variables change the right answer.
Something described here as a general rule may not apply to you at all, or may apply differently. Speak to a qualified professional about your own circumstances before acting.
This applies particularly to anything about tax. Do not make a tax decision based on a web page — ours or anyone else's.
Accuracy and currency
We work to keep this site accurate and up to date. Tax law, filing thresholds, state rules and reporting requirements change regularly, and content published previously may no longer reflect current rules.
Where a page includes a date, treat the information as accurate as at that date and no later. We make no warranty that all content is current, complete or free of error.
Industry content
Our industry pages describe accounting issues common to particular trades. They are written from general professional understanding of how those industries operate.
They are not a substitute for advice from someone who has reviewed your books. Where an industry has specific licensing, trust accounting or regulatory requirements, those requirements vary by state and you should confirm them for your own jurisdiction.
No guarantee of results
Nothing on this site is a promise of a particular financial outcome. We do not guarantee tax savings of any amount, improved profitability, or any specific result.
Where we describe what better bookkeeping can reveal, we are describing what is typically possible, not predicting what will happen in your business.
Third-party links and tools
This site may link to third-party websites and mention third-party software. Those links are provided for convenience. We do not control that content and are not responsible for its accuracy, availability or practices.
Testimonials
Any client testimonials published on this site are the genuine words of real clients, published with their permission. Individual results vary and one client's experience does not predict another's.
We do not publish invented or incentivised testimonials.
Limitation of liability
We accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on information published on this site. If you need advice you can rely on, engage a professional — us or someone else — who has reviewed your actual circumstances.
